The feedstock is fed into a drum (cylinder) that rotates around its axis. Inside the drum there are special blades (lifters) that guide the loaded raw material along the axis of rotation while the drum rotates. The raw material acquires a cascading motion and intensive mixing takes place.
In the process of mixing, friction destroys the bonds between the useful mineral and the waste rock. Then the material moves along the drum from the disintegration zone to the washing and screening zone. In fact, two beneficiation processes are combined in one unit: disintegration and classification according to a given size class.
